About
Emily Poel is a Berlin-based embodiment practitioner, educator, and author working at the intersection of learning, creativity, and embodied cognition. She is the co-author of Bodies of Learning: How Embodiment Science Transforms Education (Routledge, 2026, with Prof. Guy Claxton), and advocates for translating theory into lived practice—especially in work, educational and civic contexts.
Originally trained in contemporary dance performance and history, she worked internationally as a performer, choreographer, and creative advisor before shifting her focus in 2004 to embodiment training. Over the past two decades, she has co-founded two Berlin-based companies and developed a wide range of workshops and courses that use physical awareness and movement practices to explore how learning, thinking, and creativity emerge in real-world settings. Her work is grounded in cross-disciplinary research and a commitment to collaborative, experiential approaches to learning.
