Dr. Laura Stielike is a postdoc at the Institute for Migration Research and Intercultural Studies at Osnabrück University, member of the research project “Social Spaces of Migration”, the SFB “Production of Migration” and the Centre for Social Theory at Ghent University. Her work explores the digital transformation of migration-related knowledge production. Currently, she investigates social media as digital spaces of resistance and counter-knowledge production against anti-migration discourse in Germany. Her PhD at FU Berlin offered a postcolonial analysis of the ‘migration&development dispositif’ with a focus on Cameroonian migration to Germany. Laura is co-editor of the Journal of Migration Studies (ZMF), the Inventory of Migration Terms (migrationsbegriffe.de) and the Special Issue “Rethinking the production of knowledge on migration: a moral economies approach” (JEMS). She has taught courses on digital migration studies, migration & development, intersectionality, postcolonial studies and discourse analysis. Her publications include “Migration Multiple? Big Data, Knowledge Practices and the Governability of Migration”.
