Raised by the Algorithm: Designing Ethical AI for Sex, Love & Desire

“Raised by the Algorithm: Designing Ethical AI for Sex, Love & Desire” is an interactive workshop exploring how AI systems already shape sexual education, desire, and intimacy, and how they risk reproducing harm at scale. Trained on data saturated with misogyny, racism, violence, and non-consensual content, today’s AI is quietly becoming a powerful but unregulated sex educator, especially for Gen Z.

Facilitated by Ana Ornelas aka Pimenta Citríca and Cornelia Steinbock from the Digital Intimacy Coalition, this session approaches the topic from a pleasure-positive and ethics-driven perspective. Rather than debating abstract futures, participants actively engage with real design dilemmas: emotional dependency, biased fantasies, consent violations, and power imbalances embedded in AI systems.

Through live polling, small-group collaboration, and speculative design exercises, participants co-create imaginary AI intimacy tools and define non-negotiable ethical rules. The workshop invites the community to confront trade-offs, articulate shared principles, and design a better alternative that serves people's needs based on respect.
