Pluriversal Care Zine - a community design experiment

Tue, May 19 16:15 – 17:15 (60m) Makerspace Community Garden Workshop ·Politik & Gesellschaft

Description

Communities have many shapes and forms. So does the notion of care. Linguistic roots, lived contexts, power relations, cultural backgrounds - all shape how care is felt, practiced, and understood. This workshop draws on the idea of community as a verb, rather than a noun: continuously designing itself through interaction and difference (Arturo Escobar, Designs for the Pluriverse). Participants will collaboratively create a zine assembling multiple perceptions of community and care. The zine does not aim for a homogeneous narrative, but holds tensions, contradictions, and shared commonalities side by side.

Zines have long served as tools for self-expression, community building, and resistance. From punk movements to grassroots resource sharing. Here, it becomes a performative practice of community care: uniting differences while making power relations visible.

In times of growing polarization, collective zine-making is framed as an artistic and political act, demonstrating that community emerges not from uniformity, but from assembling differences with intention and care.

Please bring materials, magazines or scrap paper to use in the zine making.
