Distributed BioLabs: Hacking the Material Future
Description
This 1-hour session introduces Distributed BioLabs as a radical, emerging model for rethinking how we design and produce in the age of climate urgency. Blending biology, open knowledge, and circular design, it explores how bio-based practices are moving beyond labs and into everyday life—reshaping creative work, technology, and local communities.
After a short introduction and Q&A, participants will step into a 45-minute hands-on workshop to experiment with making their own biocomposites (“bioceramics”) using simple, accessible ingredients. This is not just about materials—it’s about reimagining systems of production, from extractive to regenerative.
No prior experience needed. Come ready to get your hands dirty, challenge assumptions, and prototype a small piece of a more sustainable, distributed future
